This gift brought my sister a smile and I got one for myself as well. Unexpectedly, this is incredibly soft. We both really love them. As a side note, it is round, which I feel is worth mentioning. Blankets often will twist and turn on me through the night leading to the short side sometimes being where the longside should and cold feet sticking out the bottom. That is not going to happen with this which somehow makes it feel more comforting than normal.
